Having worked for many years as a Family Law solicitor, I decided to postpone my career when I married and had children. After a break, I realised that I wanted to pursue an entirely different profession and having always been fascinated by holistic medicine was drawn to reflexology based on my own past experiences. The positive impact of this therapy has continued to provide me with a sense of balance. I like to share my enthusiasm for the therapy by giving talks and presentations.
Having graduated with The Three Shires School of Reflexology I now practice as a fully qualified clinical and therapeutic reflexologist. I operate from my home in Long Marston, Warwickshire, which is situated on the edge of the Cotswolds. My home based therapy room offers privacy in a peaceful and tranquil setting with plenty of parking space. It is easily reached from Chipping Camden, Stratford-upon-Avon, Shipston-on-Stour and Alcester . I do offer home visits within a 10 mile radius of my home. Practicing from home, I’m able to be flexible with my working hours and I’m available for some evening and weekend appointments in addition to my normal week days.
I also practice at Higher Health and Healing, a Natural Therapy Practice offering a broad range of therapies, located in the beautiful grounds of Cornbury Park, Charlbury in Oxfordshire.
I aim to provide my clients with a relaxing and calming experience. I believe that my grounded, caring and personalised approach optimises the support that reflexology can give in promoting health and wellbeing.
I am committed to a treatment that best suits an individual’s particular needs. We are all unique and my work is one that recognises this, creating a reflexology session that is right for you. Working with you as a whole person, rather than addressing only your presenting symptoms, ensures a holistic approach to balancing your health. I have seen how effective treatments can be for people suffering from a wide range of conditions and it is very gratifying to see how people have a more positive attitude to problems that have been troubling them for some time. After a treatment many clients comment on how calm they feel and report an improvement in sleep.
I maintain a special interest in stress management. During my years practicing as a Lawyer I witnessed how often the trauma of major life events impacts on our health. Since stress, sometimes referred to as a ‘silent killer’, is now the underlying cause of so many chronic illnesses, understanding how stress affects not just the mind, but also the body, is essential when treating holistically. Reducing stress may be effective in easing symptoms of many health complaints. The focus of my work is therefore activating the parasympathetic nervous system which can help reduce anxiety and correct the ‘fight and flight’ response. I am a firm believer that the relaxation effects promote the body’s natural healing process. Taking positive steps to reduce our stress levels is fundamental to our wellbeing, helping us cope with the demands of modern life. Whilst reflexology does not profess to be a ‘cure-all’, Scientific evidence shows that there may be both physiological and psychological benefits.
Not only has reflexology been shown to reduce the stress hormone cortisol but a treatment encourages the release of endorphins, the body’s natural ‘feel-good’ hormones known to ease our perception of pain.
Reflexology is more than just a simple foot massage and is now widely acknowledged by the NHS, GPs and hospices as a viable non-invasive complementary health therapy, working alongside conventional medicine; it is a unique way of promoting better health and wellbeing.
My philosophy is simple. A quietened mind helps restore the body’s natural balance which is the best way of ensuring that we get the best out of ourselves both mentally and physically.
So whether you are looking for support for a specific health issue or just needing to recharge, I can offer advice on a treatment most suited to your needs.
“I find her to be an excellent practitioner, she is knowledgeable, thorough, considered and very caring putting me at immediate ease. The treatment itself is wonderful, she always explains what can be expected as a result of the treatment and always checks two days later to see how I am feeling. I can definitely say that I have noticed an improvement in my symptoms. Fiona is extremely committed, very personable and meticulous in her approach. I have no hesitation in continuing the treatment as I find it of great benefit to my overall well being.”
